Overview

The Mardi Himal Trek in the Annapurna region of Nepal is one of the most famous short treks in Nepal. Taking the time to trek the Mardi Himal Base camp is worth every penny. Mardi Himal trek is considered to be one lovely short trek in Nepal. It takes about 4 days to 5 days to reach Mardi Himal Base Camp. For those short on time, there is a shorter route to do the Mardi Himal trek. However, the Classic trek route is a 5 to 6-day hike, and on average. The Mardi Himal Base Camp trek offers an awesome combination of culture, lush forests, superb views of a wide range of snowcapped high Himalayas including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and many more.

The best way to travel Pokhara for Mardi Himal Trekking is to fly Pokhara from Kathmandu then drive to Kande by private car. Our trek itinerary is perfectly designed with including both ways domestic flights. Our trek starts from Kande and ends at Khimche after visiting a beautiful Ghandruk village. This village offers a magnificent view of the Annapurna foothill and a superb sunrise and sunset.

The best time to trek Mardi Himal is during the autumn season (Middle of September to December) or Spring Season (Middle of February to May). Mardi Himal Trek is not a difficult trek compared to other treks in Nepal. It is moderate and relatively short/easy treks in Nepal. If you are planning to do the Mardi Himal trek in winter (middle of December to January) please be prepared for cold weather. Actually, we don’t recommend doing the Mardi trek in December, as the weather will be freezing cold. Mardi trekking during the Monsoon season (June, July, and August) is also not suggested as rains affect your trek, due to the rain, the Mardi Himal Trekking Trail would be more slippery and harder.

Next, we head to the world-famous Boudhanath Stupa which is said to be the largest stupa in the world. This place is a major center for Tibetan culture in Kathmandu. This stupa is constructed like a giant mandala, a representation of the Buddhist cosmos.
We return back to the hotel after lunch and get fresh. Next, we start the process of packing up for the trekking. We will help you check for the required trekking gear needed during the trekking. Also, we will deliver you our company duffel bag for trekking.

DAY 03:Fly to Pokhara and drive to Kade and Trek to Deurali (2100m/6,720ft): Approx. 4-5 hrs.

After having a decent hearty breakfast at our hotel then we move to the internal airport to fly to Pokhara, which is situated about 200 K.M West of Kathmandu. It will be approx.30-minute flying journey. This stunning short flight offers views of the Langtang, Manaslu, and Annapurna ranges. We are joining our Sherpa crew on arrival at Pokhara Airport and taken by comfy private vehicle (1 hour) to the start of our walk.
Together with our Expert Sherpa crew, we trek Deurali 2100m from Kande. Roughly 2 hours of the walk will bring us to a spectacular spot of Australian Camp. Along the route, we can see a panoramic view of Annapurna Range including Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna II and IV, and Lamjung Himal, etc.
After having our best Lunch in Australian Camp, we continue trek over slightly easy downhill to Pothana (1950m). Where your guide will Show your ACAP and TIMS Card at Check Point then we hike gradually up again to Deurali (2100m).

Note: The itinerary from Kande is a suitable one and very few trekkers decide to start the trek from here. The trail is good, first gradually up, then a bit sharper to Australian Camp (2060m - Roughly one hour), then easy walk to Pothana (1950m) & ultimately short and easy hike up to Deurali (2100m). Overnight Stay at Deurali

DAY 04: Trek from Deurali to Forest Camp (2,520m/8064ft). Approx. 4-5 hours.

After having a decent hearty breakfast at our lodge in Deurali, we start our trek around 7:30-8:00 AM. We turn right from Deurali, our trail passes through a lush jungle dotted with red rhododendrons. The flowers are a common sight in Nepalese hills and it is no surprise that it's Nepal’s national flower. On our trail, there is a part just over halfway where the trail drops sharply and then gradually increases height and then back onto the edge and into Forrest Camp (2600m) after approximately 4 hours walking. We can take a rest and explore the area, which is also known locally as Kokar. Overnight in Forest Camp.

DAY 05: Trek from Forest Camp to Badal Danda (3,360 m/11,020 ft.) 3-4 hours

After having a good breakfast at Forest Camp, we restart our trek throughout dense forests admiring Nepal’s rich biodiversity, and reach the Badal danda. The trail is initially fairly steep leaving Forest Camp but shortly gets less vertical as you again get upon the ridge, roughly an hour up from Forest Camp there is a new teahouse called “Rest Camp”. From Forest Camp to Badal dada is just a short day walking throughout more forest with a few glances of Annapurna South before getting into Badal danda. Reach camp for lunch—this is our destination for the day, spending the afternoon at altitude for acclimatization. Though still surrounded by forest, there are stunning northerly views of the ever-closer ‘Fishtail’.

DAY 06: Trek from badal dada to high Camp (3,540m/11,328ft): 3-4 hours

We trek uphill alongside a rim near Mardi Himal and Macchhapuchhre. The trail leaves through in forest again, but the plants soon start to get lesser and after roughly one-hour walking we can see an open ridge with amazing views of Machhapuchhre ahead, and Annapurna South to left. The trail then undulates alongside the edge and after roughly 3 hours walking we will get to High Camp (3550m).
When we walk higher, the tree lines start getting thinner and the area typically contains shrubs with lonely rhododendron bushes along the trail. If lucky, we may even come across the Daphne pheasant (national bird of Nepal) on our way to the high camp. We climb up to the high camp, which is the ultimate destination of the day. From here the massif mountains views are magnificent. Overnight in high camp.

DAY 07: Hike to viewpoint 4,250 m & Mardi base camp 4,500m back to Low camp: 6-7 hrs- Lodge (B/L/D

Today we have two possibilities, one option is we can continue trekking along the ridge to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) from High Camp, which takes about 7-8 hours for two ways. This will be quite a long day. However, we also have second options that we can hike up to viewpoint only and then come back to high camp, which is about halfway.
After our breakfast, we start our day with the first rays of sunshine on Annapurna South, Himalchuli, and Machhapuchare. The two to three-hour ascent offers spectacular views deep down on the trekking route to the Annapurna base camp and high out to the ice-crowned mountain peaks.
At the top, you will be rewarded with a 360-degree view of Annapurna South (7219 m), Patal Himalchuli, Glacier Dome (7069 m), Gangapurna (7454 m), Machhapuchare, and the barren rock of Mardi Himal (5587 m).

DAY 08: Trek from Low camp to Landruk(1500m/ 4920ft), 4-5 hrs- Lodge( B/L/D)

It is a long day downhill, almost 2000 meters down it’s not suitable to do if you have any knee issues. The part from Forest Camp to Landruk is the steepest part of the trek. The way down went quick and almost effortless and you can enjoy the scenery and spotted many birds in the forest on the way.

DAY 09: Trek from Landruk to Ghandruk (6,365 feet / 1,940 m): 3-4 hours

Enjoy the last moments of your higher elevation views with breakfast in Landruk. Then, the trail begins with a steep descent towards the Modi Khola (river) for about an hour, followed by a steep ascent of 2-3 hours through scattered villages to Ghandruk, with great views of the Himalaya en route.
Finally, you'll reach the village of Ghandruk, one of the biggest Gurung settlements in western Nepal. Once here, you will have time to enjoy the landscapes and snow-capped peaks like Gangapura, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Mount Annapurna.
If time permits, visit the Annapurna Mountain Conservation Area Project (ACAP) headquarters. The ACAP is the first conservation area and the largest protected area in Nepal. Rich in biodiversity, the area offers over 1,000 species of flowering plants, mammals, amphibians, and birds. You can learn about tourism management (and its effect on the environment) and activities that benefit local communities.

DAY 10: Trek to Khimche & drive back to Pokhara by jeep (2 hrs & 1hours drive)- Hotel

Today we start our day with an early morning breakfast in Ghandruk and then trek past small villages and picturesque rice fields to reach Khimche. Once you arrive, you'll meet your private jeep transfer waiting to take you back to Pokhara . The rest of the afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy at leisure. You can shop for souvenirs or explore the beautiful lakeside streets on foot, bicycle, or rickshaw, seeing anything you may have missed at the beginning of your trip. And for a celebratory meal, here are some ideas for how to spend your last dinner in Nepal, including French, Vietnamese, and Middle Eastern options.

DAY 11: Drive to airport & Fly back to Kathmandu and Half day city Tour in Kathmandu.

After a healthy breakfast at the hotel, we will drive to Pokhara airport. It takes about 25 minutes on the flight. Flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara gives a great chance to experience the magnificent views of mountains such as Annapurna and Langtang and landscape flying the north over the snow-capped Himalaya and green Mahabharat range to the south is exciting.
Once you land at Kathmandu airport, our Tour guide will take you for a half-day tour of Pashupatinath Temple and Patan City.
Pashupatinath is more than just a spiritual endpoint. It is a mixture of religion, art, and philosophy. It offers peace and loyalty. Patan is just 5 km away from the center of Kathmandu, but, despite such closeness, its 'well-maintained ancestral distinctiveness differentiates Patan as an unusual atmosphere to experience in a short travel. Patan is also known as Lalitpur, "City of Beauty", and its exceptional Durbar Squares, temples, alleys, cuisine, friendliness, and religious tolerance explain the pre-historic status of the city.
Patan is a city of 55 main temples, 136 Buddhist monasteries, fine metal works, and uncountable celebrations. Patan takes pride in manufacturing great Thanka painters in the country. In every - now and then - junctions and pathways of Patan can be seen with Thanka artistes, filling color to antique Gods and Goddess.
